Inspired by Lancelot, from the Homeless...
Over the years, I HAVE asked this from people that wanted "hand-outs", though not in one luncheon -
Comments on "What are you doing with your life?” "What kind of job are you looking for?", and "What do you plan on doing with this money?" :
"C'mon, my man, I need some bread. I am SO hungry!"
"I just need some food guy."
"God bless ya." *question* "What do you want this money for?" *pause* "...umm, I just need some money, I am hungry. What change do ya have?" *pause* "My change won't buy you change. What do you need?" *pause* "Never mind man, see ya."
By my dad -
"5 dollars please, I need to feed my family."
Meanwhile, I am in the car with siblings. I wonder what will happen... we aren't in a bad neighborhood.
My dad, "Promise me - this will go to feed your family?"
Guy, "Sure, I promise."
My dad, "OK, here ya go."
So, he gets back into the car and I question him, since I didn't actually see it - "Did you actually give the money?"
Dad - "Yup. He promised to buy bread for his family."
Me - "Will he?"
Dad - "I don't know. I hope so."
This is why I love my dad.

I liked to you through Lancelot.
Once we were out of the office for the day and stopped at Hardees for breakfast on the way to our destination. There was a bum outside asking for handouts. Having no change, one of the guys with us bought him a biscuit and coffee when he placed his own order. The bum cused him when given the breakfast because it wouldn't buy him alcohol.
Thanks, my blog isn't as good as his, but I'm glad you like it. I find it a constructive vent. I've seen a couple of your posts too. Good stuff.
